Not too long ago, we noticed some black lines on the pan of our shower. At first, we thought they were just scratches, but soon water started seeping out from under the shower! Turns out our RV shower pain was cracked. Uh-oh! As any RV owner will tell you, moisture is an RV’s worst enemy. If left unchecked, a leak in the shower pan can cause significant water damage. So, I got to work figuring out how to repair it.
We had a few options:

Take the RV in for repair – Not ideal since we live in our RV full-time. Plus, it would cost hundreds of dollars for the repair and even more for a hotel stay.
Call a mobile repair service – Convenient, but they typically charge $100 just to show up, and that’s before the actual repair costs.
Replace the entire shower pan – A replacement pan costs $150-$300, depending on the design, not including labor.
Then I stumbled across an article on RV Enthusiast, where they used Flex Seal paint to repair their shower pan cracks. This seemed like the quickest, most cost-effective solution, and I decided to give it a try.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare the Area
Clean the shower pan thoroughly to remove any dirt, soap scum, or debris.
Dry the surface completely to ensure the Flex Seal adheres properly.
Use painter’s tape to tape off the drain and create clean edges. We taped about an inch and a half up the sides of the pan.
2. Seal the Cracks
Apply a small amount of super glue to seal narrow cracks.
Some recommend drilling small holes at the start and end of cracks to prevent spreading, then filling the holes with hot glue. We skipped the drilling and used super glue instead.
Use a paintbrush to apply Flex Seal evenly over the pan, up to your tape line.

3. Remove Tape and Let It Dry
After applying the Flex Seal, wait 20-30 minutes before removing the painter’s tape. If you leave it too long, the Flex Seal may stick to the tape and peel off.

4. Let It Cure
Allow the Flex Seal to set for a full 48 hours before using the shower.
5. Test for Leaks
Once cured, run water over the repaired area to check for leaks.
If needed, apply another coat, making sure to allow ample drying time between applications.
The Results
The RV shower pan repair took only 20 minutes of prepping and painting, plus 48 hours of drying time. It was perfect timing for our trip to Snoqualmie, Washington, where we went skiing at Summit and hiked to the stunning Goldmyer Hot Springs. After all that activity, a working shower was a must!
It’s been about a month since we completed the repair, and so far, we’ve noticed no leaks. We only applied one coat but plan to do another for added durability. One thing to note: the Flex Seal made the shower pan slippery, so we purchased a non-slip mat on Amazon, and it’s been a game-changer.
Overall, we’re thrilled with this repair! It cost less than $50 and didn’t take much time at all.
